Author's Notes: I'm posting this for a certain sweet lealynnkenobi , just because. :) Please, please, PLEASE be aware that this was one of the first Star Wars fics I ever wrote (inspired after reading Obidala fics as posted by my first-ever friend on this LJ account, senatorsfan_ink ) and has been languishing on my harddrive for months, waiting for a good edit job, which I never did get around to. Why do I make a point of mentioning this? Because, OMG, it's laughably poorly-written (sadly, even the sex, I think) in spots (POSSIBLY ALL SPOTS) and I think my characterization is kind of shaky and does not entirely mesh with how I actually 'see' the characters. (And like the Jedi would not automatically be aware of Republic politics, nevermind being deeply involved, regardless of their personal opinions!  Heh.)  Not that I'm like John Irving or something now, but I'd like to think my fanfic has improved since I wrote this. Originally, this was going to be part of a much longer piece I'd titled Broken Halo, which never materialized, but I kind of like the idea of it as a one-shot much more. Anyway, please feel free to shred me at will for this, given its messiness (I swear that's not false humility, either), but I do hope one or two of you at least enjoy it. :p (OMG CRINGE. I'M SCARED TO POST THIS, BUT... HERE GOES.)

So, I still can't get to my gmail, which sucks, because it's actually not AS busy as it has been recently (it's busy but not crazily so), so it just figures that when I actually have some spare time, I CAN'T DO WHAT I WANT. Fucking A. I also email myself stuff to read during downtime so that I can whip up a response and post it when I get home.

Ugh.

With LJ, the thing that doesn't make sense to me is that from here at work, I can obviously create and post an entry, and I can read the responses to said entry, but I can't look at my friendslist and can't respond to responses.

So... to answer your question, Pronks, I have my screen wayyyyyy minimized with LJ on it, and very quickly alt-tab when I sense someone approaching. I use a proxy server site to access stuff like gmail (and LJ) during the day when I'm at work, because we aren't supposed to/don't have access otherwise. So it's all on the downlow, even though almost everyone here does it. Yes, it's bad, and yes, we shouldn't be doing it.

Ma chere, Laura, I love that icon. OMG, it just... YES. You know me too well, as it makes me just laugh and laugh and laugh. AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW EXACTLY WHY. Hehe. I wish I was able to make out email with ma coquette right now! :( LEAVE MESSAGES FOR ME HERE, OMG, SO I DON'T DIE OF LONELINESS. :p

I'm at work and usually have access to gmail and don't have access to livejournal, so WTF? Heh. Not that I'm complaining about the sudden (at least partial) lj access, but I also keep in touch with people -- important people -- via my gmail when I'm at work. I'll keep trying, of course, but if I don't email today, that's the reason why.

I... really need to finish up my last drabble and the next ficlet and the co-fic with Paige and the Padme/Palpatine fic and my original pieces and my swfanficfestwhateveritscalled fics and... Oy. I've been swamped with work of late, and it's really been draining me, hence the lack of posting here and my even-more-than-usual absense from AIM the past several nights.

Well, I didn't manage to get nearly as much done on my vacation as I'd planned/hoped. I spent a lot of time out, with my family and such, which was a good thing, though. :) 

But at any rate, the four remaining drabbles for the meme challenge will be posted soon (two BSG [my first time writing BSG!], two SW). The next ficlet is on the way, too, and I think I may have a title for that series at last, but I'm still mulling it over. 

I really need to focus next on the fic I'm writing with polly_moopers and the Padme/Palpatine one-shot, too. Plus some original stuff. And there's the swficchallenge claims. And other stuff, but thankfully not time-sensitive. :D 

I still have that long-dormant comparison piece/essay/meta/whatever-you-want-to-call-it on Buffy Summers and Anakin Skywalker. I'd totally forgotten about it until I was going through a notebook the other day, and lo and behold, there it was. Hee. I AM SUCH A NERD. It's nice not having coursework to slog through again till September, hence all the free writing time I've had the past couple of months and will continue to have through the summer. XD

Oh, man. Just got home from golf with Dad and wouldn't you know that we're too alike: WE BOTH FORGOT SUNSCREEN. I am... slightly burnt. My Dad is much darker complected than me, so he's dark already, so the sun today probably won't be a blip on his radar. But me, having inherited the lovely Scandanavian genes from my Mom's mom? OH. I went over to my sister's and her husband's place last night for dinner (OMG sushi from this Japanese restaurant here called Hamachi House; it was AWESOME) and we rented Jumper. Not that I was expecting much anyway, but wow, I didn't expect it to be as lackluster as it was. I really, really wish Hayden would start picking challenging, rewarding roles like the ones he played in Life as a House and Shattered Glass more often. Like another one of my favorites, a certain Sarah Michelle Gellar, he just KICKS SO MUCH ACTOR-Y ASS given the right material and direction. But if he keeps picking roles like the one he plays in Jumper, he may as well kiss those opportunities goodbye. Don't get me wrong, he was serviceable enough in it. As was everyone else. But none of it was anything special. If he's gonna really prove himself post-Star Wars, he needs to make some smarter choices to show people he can really act.

I need to lay down now. Heh. I have a bit of a headache. Sadly, chatterie and more writerly action will need to wait for later on or tomorrow now. I have many good ideas to complete the rest of my drabbles and I'm also almost done another Anakin/Padmé/Obi-Wan fic as part of my saga_6 claim (be forewarned: it's lengthy (for me), shameless smut). And more stuff, too.

... am I ever looking forward to Dollhouse. I mean, it's a given that if it's a Joss creation, I will be watching (no one should be shocked by that), but still... This just looks like it'll be all kinds of awesome. And you know what else about this is exciting? Not just Yay!Joss-newness, but the fact that he's got some fantastic people on board, both onscreen and behind the scenes. There's Eliza Dushku, of course, but also Amy Acker (!), Olivia Williams (!!), and Tahmoh Penikett (!!!), amongst others. The crew roster excites me just as much as the acting talent: Joss, Tim-evilgenius-Minear, Craft & Fain, Kelly Manners, Stephen-effingawesome-DeKnight, David Solomon.

I know I'm probably the rare person to geek out over a television show's crew, but I can't help it.

In all seriousness, though, the wait will be difficult, but hardly anything I'm not used to, given that I'm primarily a wait-for-the-DVD kind o' gal. I mean, I watch LOST, too, for fuck sakes, and we all know how long it takes for each season of that show to come to DVD each year. Season four of Battlestar Galactica is the first TV in a good long while that I've actually watched before it came to DVD. Was it worth it?

You bet your motherfrakking ass it was.

No spoilery comments here from me for now, but it's worth pointing out that someone REALLY needs to give Michael Hogan (Col. Saul Tigh) a goddamn Emmy already. I would say this even if Tigh wasn't my absolute favorite vharacter on the show.
